Just Cause 2 – Looks Good to Me!

March 15, 2010   |   Reading time: ~3 mins

Hey everyone. I haven’t posted anything gaming inspired for a little while so here we go. I have what is possibly one of the most powerful home computers in the area so it’s only natural that I give it a bit of a workout every now and then… recently I’ve been stretching it’s muscles with very little, mainly video encoding actually, but what time it has spent on recreation has been playing Fallout 3 mainly. That game is simply epic, but that’s another story for another day. The other night I happened to notice that there was a Just Cause demo available on Steam, being one of the few people who didn’t notice the shoddy gameplay mechanics, regular crashing and terrible story of the first one I rushed off and downloaded it immediately.

Well, lets do a quick summary. It’s fairly impressive. By my reckoning the new sandbox of chaos you get to play in is another set of islands under the iron fist of a ruthless dictator (suspiciously enough like the first game, because the pacific ocean is crawling with those military coup infested islands) which covers more area with a more varied landscape than the first going from snow to desert to big city skyline throughout. I can but imagine the actual size of the islands, since the area included in the demo which is no slouch by anymeans, totals 35 miles and only takes up a tiny fraction of the map. So you certainly get bang for your buck size-wise, which we all know usually makes a decent sandbox game.

I have played very little but what I have played is very good. I will sum it up with a sentence which pretty much describes the game in my mind. “It’s more fun than Grand Theft Auto”. Yes, it’s a lot of fun, it doesn’t take itself too seriously which is a good thing since the physics engine is so disjointed that you can literally tumble down the side of a cliff and not sustain any injury.

I think that’s enough from me on this subject, but why take my word for it, here’s a link to the demo on steam. Trust me. You won’t be disappointed if you like a fun and action packed action shooter. – Steam Link For Just Cause 2 Demo

PS – For your enjoyment I made a little gameplay video to demo some of the action-packed-ness. And it’s in 720p HD too!
